The amazing thing about eSports is that there is always undiscovered talent just one break-out tournament away from fame. With so much focus on the top 1 percent of players, often times people don’t keep in mind there are players right on the heels of this group.
In DreamHack Summer 2012, we saw a relatively unknown Dutch player skyrocket into the scene. Surprising a lot of people outside of the Benelux that weren’t familiar with him, Harstem fought tooth and nail through the three group stages before losing in the top 16. Now, Harstem is a nickname known far and wide in the SC2 scene.
Fast forward two years to DreamHack Summer 2014. A relatively unknown Dutch player launches into the scene. Despite being an unknown to many, Sjaak fights tooth and nail through the three group stages, before finally stranding in the top 16.
Whether Sjaak will grow to be a household name in SC2 eSports like Harstem remains to be seen. What he has shown this DreamHack Summer is that he does have the tools required.
We’re always extremely proud when one of our Intel Pack4DreamHack players puts up an impressive result. This event, Sjaak has been the talk of the town. We invite you to take a look into the impressively strong mindset of Sjaak and get to know one of the players who could be the next big thing out of the Benelux in this interview.
