Alternate PC winner announced

The moment a lot of you guys have been waiting for: who will receive the Intel Pack4DreamHack Summer 2013 Alternate PC? Well, time to take a look at that.

Thanks to Alternate and Intel giving our contest some nice boosts, we had quite a lot of participants this time. Not everyone knew the correct answers to the first three questions though. Let’s check those first:

  • Coming September, Alternate Netherlands will celebrate its 15th anniversary.
  • The latest generation of Intel Core CPU’s is the 4th generation.
  • The Logitech G500s mouse can handle 20 million clicks.

Removing all participants that had an invalid entrance or a wrong answer, we still have 2408 people left.

How many visitors will our website have between May 1 and June 20? Well, people that entered our contest in the past few years know that until now it has always been a five digit number between 20000 and 50000. So let’s remove everyone below the 20000 and above the 50000. Some of you were really ridiculous with your answer, going from only 3 visitors to more than a billion visitors. Scratching those guys and girls, there are 601 people left.

We grew! Our answer is actually higher than the one we had at our last contest. Last time we had 40302 people, so let’s cut everyone below that. Only 141 participants in the running for the Alternate PC.

So how much did we grow? Well, we got past the 45000, but we didn’t reach the 50000, leaving only 52 people. Of those 52 people, only 12 managed to get in reach, giving an answer between 46000 and 47000. Time to go to the top 3

With an answer of 46185, k3nii got third place, winning a Logitech G230 Stereo Gaming Headset. The whole Logitech G gaming gear package, containing the Logitech G230, the Logitech G510s and the Logitech G500s, goes to spam.ongewenst, who gave an answer of 46427.

The right answer to the last question is 46361. With a difference of 20, koenwijckmans is our big winner! He gave us an answer of 46381. Congratulations koenwijckmans! You will receive the following:

    Gefeliciteerd allemaal, zo met 20 verschil netjes hoor, hoe word er toch steeds zo dichtbij het juiste getal geschat? vorige keer was dat ook al het geval. Zijn er programma’s om het internet verkeer te volgen of zo? ik zit er iedere keer er ver naast

    Dat vraag ik mij ook af :P,

    Je kan zoiets wel vrij goed analytisch gaan berekenen. Maar zelfs dan lijkt het mij echt moeilijk.
