Now that the evening quickly descends upon us, we can slowly see an overview of the first results of the Dutch crew forming here at Dreamhack Summer.
First to come and go was Weiman who unfortunately failed to score maps in his SC2 group, which featured opponents like the feared Canadian Huk. Giant met a similar fate. Against countryman DarkOmicron he came up short with a 0-2 score. He was however able to put a map on the board against the eventual winner of the group, the South African Pandatank. Unfortunately Giant was unable to convert that map into a win in the series.
Better news follows from the other Dutch SC2 players. The already mentioned DarkOmicron was able to survive the first group phase by claiming second place in his group. PoYo only lost to Sting, the South Korean that played a perfect series in the first group phase and did not lose a single map. This allowed PoYo to take second and earn himself a place in the next round.
DaBoo however is a saga of its own. Making a nonchalant mistake, DaBoo showed up late to his first match, donating a forfeit win to his opponent. DaBoo was able to convert the next match into a win and managed to force a tiebreaker. The tiebreaker he won easily, which thankfully saved him from further damage from this slight misstep.
Update: Jona unfortunately came up short in a very tough group with both HyuN and MorroW. uThermal and Harstem however join those that qualified for the second round. Ret still has to play.
When it comes to League of Legends, the Dutch-Belgian combination of LowLandLions is steadily speeding ahead. At this time they are just one round short of qualifying for the groupphase. This round however is against the equally strong opponents GamingGear.
Cheer for the Dutch players still contending, especially our Intel Pack4Dreamhackers and be sure to check back tomorrow for what promises to be an extremely competitive day 2 at Dreamhack Summer.
