Last weekend in Beursgebouw, Eindhoven, our Intel Pack4DreamHack Summer 2011 Benelux Qualifiers for StarCraft 2 and CounterStrike 1.6 were held. The winners of the StarCraft 2 and the Counter Strike 1.6 competitions would recieve not only a free ticket to Intel Pack4DreamHack Summer 2011, including the goodies, the roadtrip and offcourse the entrance ticket to DreamHack Summer 2011, but also a direct seeding into the main tournament of their game at DreamHack Summer!
Our winner of the Benelux DreamHack Qualifier for StarCraft 2 has become Lennart ‘srsRAZRSushi’ Roest. During our Winter 2010 Qualifiers Sushi lost two times in two different finale games, eventually not securing a ticket to go to DreamHack Winter. So this Summer he had to get his revenge! With others like DaBoO, Harmster and Xionn fighting for a finale place the Zerg player Sushi got his revenge and won The Party 9 with some very beautiful Mutalisk tactics. Sushi will travel with us to Jönköping and try out his strength amongst the very top players in the StarCraft 2 world!
The Kaos Gaming Counter Strike 1.6 team is not unknown within Intel Pack4DreamHack, since we brought this team to the past few events we visited. What is new, and an upset within the CounterStrike 1.6 scene, is that the qualifier wasn’t won by Antwerp Aces! Yes, for the first time since we started the CS 1.6 qualifiers the Belgiums didn’t win!
That upset within the scene can be read through looking into the results for The Party 9. Favorites like LowLandLions, Sypher and Antwerp Aces did not bring their best game, and for long it looked like a mix team, Famazing, with players like Guido ‘guidson’ Gijsbers and Lex ‘lex0r’ Dukker would win TP9. However Kaos Gaming, fought back from the lower bracket and eventually playing in the finale against team Famazing.
With a 16-9 win on de_nuke and a 16-5 win on de_dust2 the players, Chris “ChrisJ” de Jong, Raoul “headc” Janssen, Ferdi “ferrid” van Leeuwen, Dave “roachZ” van Doorn and Daniel “dDd” Dougle will take to the road once again to fight the top teams @ DreamHack Summer 2011 in their main CS 1.6 competition!
