Last Sunday DreamHack Valencia reached its conclusion. The Korean player Liquid’Taeja came out victorious by winning a close set to Millenium.ForGG (3-2). Arguably the best player in Liquids roster won his third tournament in three months and is competing for the ‘best Terran in the world’ title.
Sadly, our Dutch players didn’t do so well. Ret, one of the best Dutch players, could not make it to Valencia because his flight was overbooked. Grubby’s tournament started out with convincing wins over Protosser, Eeel and themattesc. After that, Grubby lost 0-3 in one of the hardest groups in the tournament, losing 2-1 to DeathAngel and Taeja, while losing 2-0 to his nemesis: EG.Stephano. Harstem had a decent run but also finished in the ro32. Winning his first matches against LolvsxD and Exodus, then losing to Vortix but making it through to the next round. Harstem was placed into a group with ForGG, Bling and his teammate/Warcraft III legend: Fnatic.Moon. Harstem lost 2-0 to his teammate but came really close to the win in both games. After his series with Moon, he went on to face ForGG. ForGG had a really good day and took down Harstem with ease. His last set was to be played versus Dignitas.Bling, which he won 2-1. Sadly this wasn’t enough for a spot in the brackets. PoYo went 1-2 in a tough Terran only group, losing to Quantic.TheSTC and Demuslim, and winning 2-1 to TheBigOne, Liquid’TLO’s bigger brother.
Despite the disappointing results of our own Dutch players, DreamHack Valencia was a great tournament with fantastic production value. Let’s hope DreamHack Winter will be the same!
