Today the finals of the first Intel Pack4DreamHack StarCraft II Qualifiers will be played between Patrick ‘DaBoO’ Bolleboom and Lennart ‘Sushilicious’ Roest. We had a quick interview with both players about their selves, each other and off course their expectations!
1) Guys, tell us a bit about yourselfs?
Patrick:
My nickname is DaBoO i’m 22 years old and i am living in the awesome city Zoetermeer (Sweetlake City in English, awesome). For people that do not know were I got my nickname: It’s from when I played WarCraft 3, a long time ago, and all the peons always said: ‘Ready to Work – DABOO’. Found it so funny it became my nickname! Currently I work as a fitness instructor and give Judo and Ju Jitsu lessons and selfdefence for moms (only the good looking ;)), further my hobby’s are offcourse SC, judo, ju jitse and mma (freefight)
Lennart:
Hi everyone, my name is Lennart Roest. In real life I’m a full time student at VU university in Amsterdam, I play hockey for sports and I’m living on my own together with three of my good friends. My gaming history goes back to 2004 or something when I started playing WC3. At first nothing special but in later stages it become more competitive and in the end I can say I was pretty satisfied with some of the accomplishments I’ve made during the years. Now I’ve been heavily playing SC2 since it came out and I must say I like it a lot : )
2) Congratulations, you guys won the online finals and will be playing for the DHW seat this saturday, what do you expect of your opponent?
Patrick:
I was really happy that I won! Normally versus Zion I play him and I win the first map and then lose the next two. Thanks to the Best Of 5 setup I actually had a chance to close the deal. With losing the first map, winning the next two and then losing another map everything came down to the last map. After my win versus Zion I felt really confident in z vs z and i trained it a lot. But now I need to face Sushi, but he is a cool guy and a good friend of mine. It’s zerg vs zerg, so the outcome will be kinda random, but we all hope to win 😉
Lennart:
I know my opponent very well, DaBoO is a friend of mine. He once visited me in my place and brought his PC with him. We lanned all day long.. that was fun for sure. That was the only time we met yet, so this will be our second real life encounter. He is improving rapidly in SC2 and I’ve been following his performances throughout the last few months. I know this will be a tough match, nonetheless both of us have good chances to win here. Zerg vs zerg is a coinflip, as he stated in our EPS match. That indeed is a fact. Therefore, I cannot predict too much about the outcome of this game. Only that I’m going to give it my best.
3) So you play with Zerg, why this race and how comfortable are you against the Z-Z, Z-P, Z-T matchups?
Patrick:
My Z-T and Z-Z are pretty good at the moment. With my Z-P I still have alot of troubles, like not having a real explanation why I lost or not being able to break a certain force on the field. But I guess that is just a matter of some good training. I actually trained Z-Z so hard lately that my Z-P is slacking alot :(!
Lennart:
I’m playing Zerg at the moment. I’ll most likely continue to do that for the rest of my SC2 career. I have no intentions to change my race cause I’m satisfied at the moment with how everything works ingame. Since recently I feel comfortable to play Zerg, I’ve been comfortable with Protoss ever since I started playing and Terran is still difficult, if the Terran knows how to play the race and not whine about Reaper nerves and stuff like that. I feel Zerg has a lot more potential in the race than most people are showing in replays. If they all learn how to prepare for any harrassment Zerg will become a force to be reckoned with
4) Do you expect to win?
Patrick:
To say i expect to win is hard to say offcourse ;), I will at least put up a fight and I think there will be some very close matches ;)!
Lennart:
I expect to win this match, but as I said before: anything can happen and it would certainly not be a upset if DaBoO takes the victory after all. So I’ll keep any option open.
5) If you win, what do you think your chances are in Sweden?
Patrick:
I think everyone has a chance in Sweden, and I expect to surprise alot of people with some aggression and hard training! Offcourse I hope you guys will be able to see me play in Sweden and cheer for me ;)!
Lennart:
If I do manage to win, I’ll prepare the best as I can for the real deal in Sweden. If the training schedule works out for me, I think I’ll be able to at least take some maps or give the best players a good game. That will be my goal, I won’t say anything about become top3 because that’s simply not realistic. However, I must not underestimate myself either ^^
Thanks for this short interview, good luck today at the HCC! dagen!
