I suppose you already know what DreamHack is. Just to refresh your mind, it is the greatest and the most fun LAN event that I have ever been to. DreamHack has it all; booths that showcase new items, products, games, expansions, gadgets, just about everything! Too much to count, too much to sum up. You can try everything out first handed and judge it by the feel that they can give you. The satisfaction it gives, playing with a triple screen setup, holy dear mother of computers. Most people don’t have this at home, so they can experience it at DreamHack. It might even be for a brief moment, but it is something you’ll remember for a verrryyy looongg time.
If you are not here for the ‘cool stuff’ as you already own these things or for whatever reason, there is also the social aspect of DreamHack. It may be the E-sports scene that many love to watch. Some even want to join and try to defeat the best teams… Most likely you will be able to beat teams that are not professional, though give it a go versus the professional teams and see how much your butt hurts afterwards. Everyone sitting on an uncomfortable chair for hours, though you will sit it out, just for the sake of the game that you want to watch as it is totally worth it. Maybe you are in a team, sitting in the centre of an arena, being watched from every corner and they see you get rekt. Ha, you shouldn’t be sitting there if you kept failing. So I guess you did a pretty darn good job if you’re sitting there.
DreamHack makes sure you’ll enjoy the event, whatever you plan to do. May it be viewing tournaments, being an e-sporter, streaming or being the person that just sits there behind his pc all day and does nothing besides that, you will still enjoy Dreamhack. The “HALLOOOO” yelling for example. The first time it happens you’ll be thinking: “what the actual fk..”, but after several times you’ll start joining them. Until you don’t have a voice left to shout with. It is part of the experience, it is something unique that the Dreamhack community provides. Traditions have to stay, right? As long as they are fun!
I myself am a mixture of things. I love the social aspect and playing the game(yes, that guy that sits behind his pc all day). I might not become the number one player at DreamHack, but participating in such an event is satisfying enough. Playing against great players, may it be just someone in the crowd, there is always the sportsmanship code, shaking hands at the end of the match. GG (good game for the unknown). It could be a professional team that you have to face and you will probably lose the match, but you will love every bit of the game as it might be your favourite team that you are fighting against.
The DreamHack main stage also has tons of things to offer. Take for example the opening of Dreamhack. If you love loud music, tons of bass and want to get an eargasm… That’s the place to be! P.S. there were fireworks, indoors. Famous youtuber or streamer? Most likely they will get on the mainstage and have a chat (booring!). No! They usually get to do something what they would like to do to entertain the crowd! After they’re done, they go to the fan booth. There you can stand in line to get an autograph, a selfie and I don’t know what more. Depends on the streamer, though they are open for a lot of things! Have fun waiting in line for it as it’ll be a long queue.
Another thing about DreamHack is FREE STUFF, TONS OF FREE STUFF. I mean it, A LOT of it. Don’t you dare to say no to that! When you get free stuff, check it out and if you want it, keep it. Give it away if you don’t want it. You’ll make others happy by doing so. May it be to a friend or a giveaway on your stream. Giveaways are exclusive items (not always, though it sounds cooler like this) for any kind of game. It might even be a game! It can be everything, because DreamHack loves suprising you!
So I want to invite everyone of you out there reading this. Do your best and attend Dreamhack, even if it is just for one day. It is the most enjoyable event I have ever been to and I will do everything in my power to keep attending.
My name is Justin and I hope you enjoyed reading this.
TL;DR: Get your eyes up there and start reading! As it is worth it.
