Femke: missing her children, but still here!

Published on June 18th, 2012

My first lan, being wife to a gamer and co-organiser of Netgamez (R.I.P.), I had to do this at least once. I’ve been to Netgamez only to visit, so that doesn’t count. I’ve been to CampZone once as well, (being seven months pregnant, it was awful!) and without my pc, so that doesn’t count either. Since I wanted to go to Sweden for about twenty years now, DreamHack it is. The hardest part for me was of course leaving my three lovely kids behind. Tears all over! 😛

At the bus we played Munchkin for a few hours with four other Packers, and a few times I almost won… yeah almost, damn… But it was so much fun and the ride to Sweden seemed very short.
The arrival was so quick, everything was arranged so quickly and all we had to do was find our spot. Great organisation so far! :-) Time for a group picture with the Intel hats we got in our goody bag.
Great to see that a few Packers decorated our places with Dutch flags. I can always find my pc now! And what a nice feeling playing Diablo without a whining child in the room ;-). I think I can finally make it to level 60, if I keep this blog short that is…

There is so much to see here, I made pictures for our gaming son Kaj (Seven years old). When I Skyped him and told him there was a small StarCraft cinema here, he immediately said ”COOL”. I am sure he would love it here and since I see a lot of children here, I will really take him with us in a few years!

I was really afraid I would not be able to sleep in here, in such a large hall with a lot of snoring people. But my first night here was awesome. Earplugs helped a lot I must say, but it was my best sleep in years, probably also the longest. I slept for thirteen hours!

The area around Elmia is also beautiful, Vatternmeer is so large and there are these cute little birds everywhere. We went for a walk in Jönköping which is very beautiful as well. Finally I am in Sweden and I’m loving every second of it.

Tomorrow morning we will be heading home. Samn, so soon already! But of course I am looking forward to the moment my sweet Yuna (Two years old), Ando (Three years old) and Kaj (Seven years old) will put their arm around me; I am missing them like hell…

Intel Pack4dreamhack, thanks for this great experience, I will never forget this!
