In less than a month it’s time for us to make our trip again. Woohoo! Time for another awesome blog by the enige echte (one and only) Jeroen. We’re talking about the Winter edition again. I can’t believe a year already has passed since I first went to DreamHack with Intel Pack4DreamHack. I got some great goodies and even while no one of my own friend group attended, I had a lot of fun with my colleagues from Duh-Events, the Soepkip clan and a lot of other people as well. This edition a few of my own friends decided to join, so it’s going to be even cooler.
Less cool is the fact that there is already snow in Sweden. A thin layer of snow covers the landscapes of Sweden since the middle of October, and I guess that it’s only going to get worse. Me and my snow phobia aren’t looking forward to that. To prepare for it, I’m actually going to shop for good shoes next week so I won’t fall on my smoel (which is mouth in Dutch). Any tips on what I should buy?
Back to something more cool, although not the coolest thing ever. Last Summer edition I had no doubt the most fun with my boss, Stefan. About a year ago he was being stupid with his motorcycle, after which he wasn’t able to join us. Panic! My first Intel Pack4DreamHack and I was the only one around at the office! Everything went well of course, as you might know I can’t do anything wrong. This Winter I’m fixing it by myself again! Well, a lot of the website posts are being written by Rob and Daniel, but I am busy fixing the goodies, the bus, the contact with Intel, Tones and Logitech et cetera. The reason why it’s cooler this time, is that Stefan didn’t break any bones. No, he’s on a long holiday to South America, so we were totally prepared that I had to take care of most of his Intel Pack4DreamHack tasks this time.
So luckily, most things looks a lot cooler this time than it did a year ago. The goodies are going to be awesome! You already saw our knitted hats, and we will do a cool Packers only contest with those as well. That was a great and funny idea of me. Great and funny as well: the awesome fleece blanket replacement that the Packers are going to get this year. I fixed some great goodies if I may say so myself.
Like I said before, I had a lot of help from Rob and Daniel. Daniel is the new Duh-Events intern and thanks to him I’m actually curious who is going to win the big StarCraft II tournament. Yup, Daniel is a StarCraft II kid with a nice Lego haircut. I still don’t understand the game, but I follow the brackets now to see who’s winning and who’s losing. It’s great to have a StarCraft pipo as an intern this time of the year, he makes good posts in my opinion.
Last Summer our StarCraft gangsters brought Harstem. I told him I didn’t believe in ‘semi-pro’, it sounds ridiculous. You’re a pro or you’re not. He acted all cool and such, and then he managed to get far in the Summer tournament. Nice! I really like it when someone is talking way too good about himself actually manages to get far. So now I like his Facebook page and such, which makes me an eSports groupie I guess. And now I ‘like’ an athlete apparently… Whatever, if he listed himself on Facebook as an airplane it would be fine with me as well.
So maybe I’m going to watch some competitions there as well. It would be a first. Don’t know if it’s going to be StarCraft II that I’ll watch, since I understand Counter-Strike and Street Fighter a bit better. It will probably be the first time I will watch some full performances of the artists at DreamHack as well. I don’t recognize most of the artists playing there or it just isn’t my kind of music. Knowing my friends I’ll be forced to listen to some of these bands, so please bring some cool rock bands to DreamHack as well, thank you very much :).
