“So how did you like the way home?” Robin asked us when we left from Enschede to Utrecht. Tom and I answered that it was okay and Robin looked a bit surprised. “Really? What about the falling windshield wiper?” To be honest, the way back home wasn’t really an adventure for me because I was too tired during the ‘exciting’ hours of the trip.
The last night of DreamHack I was talking to our Belgian friends about CampZone and The-Party for a while. Before I knew it, I only had three hours before I had to wake up. I quickly packed my stuff, asked Eric and Frido to watch my PC and I went to the Smurf house to lay down for an hour or two. Hennie had a hard time waking me up two hours later, but I did manage to leave Smurf Town before Hennie, Herman and Lieneke did. Someone had to go to see if the bus was opened already. Rob was there packing the stuff of our first Packers and I had to go to pick up our Duh-Events stuff and my own PC. I have to say that I really love our Packers. I was struggling a bit with the Duh-Events crates, I really didn’t want to walk four times to pack everything. One of our Packers asked me if he could help and I asked another Packer myself. Thanks guys!
Before we could leave Sweden to start our trip back to The Netherlands, we were missing three people. One of them was asleep in my bus and he didn’t respond to any of my nineteen calls for him. The twentieth time he responded finally. I think he is one of these ‘comazuipers’ (Dutch for drinking until you’re unconscious, binge drinking) you sometimes hear of, or he is just really deaf. The other two guys did have problems with their taxi I think. Anyway, we finally left Sweden with the whole Intel Pack4DreamHack team. There was no Jamie to left behind in the first place, so we hoped for a trip without any problems. It was a bit of a shame when we encountered two delays though.
Our first delay was near Kopenhagen in Denmark. One of the engine compartment hatches and one of the windscreen wipers broke down during the crossing of the Oresundsbrun bridge. I was too tired that moment to think about it I guess; I saw how Rob stole my coat again to go outside to help, but I didn’t think much about it. Later I heard that a lot of people had the most scary bus trip ever. The wind made the bus shake the whole time, but I didn’t mind the shaking until we were on the boat. The shaking of the boat made me doubt if the schnitzel I was eating was really dead or not. The shaking did however help to tell some funny ‘schuine moppen’. Schuine moppen literally means telling crooked jokes, but it translates as telling dirty jokes. O well, I guess only the Benelux people will get that one. After some schuine moppen and after making fun of a ridiculous wall painting we arrived on the other side. Time to go… NOT! Due to hard winds we were not allowed to cross the Fehmarn Bridge over the Baltic Sea, so we had to wait for an hour or two. To kill some time, my busmates decided to watch Scarface. I fell asleep rather quickly.
After I woke up and after we started the remaining part of our trip, everything went pretty fast. We arrived in Enschede sometime after midnight and most of us said goodbye to each other; one bus went to Eindhoven and one bus went to Utrecht. So there I was, away from my own bus, as a guest in Dick’s bus. He still seemed tired while I wasn’t really sleepy anymore. We arrived in Utrecht around 2.45 AM I guess. After packing my stuff and after I said goodbye, I drove back to my home. So, ‘the end’. I would like to thank all Packers from both busses for being nice and helpful, I hope to see you all again during Barcraft, CampZone, The-Party or Intel Pack4DreamHack Summer 2012.
