DreamHack Bucharest recap

Published on October 23rd, 2012

Last weekend, the Romanian capital Bucharest crowded with StarCraft fans to watch the last stop in the Eizo Open. The tournament started with 64 competitors from all over the globe, divided in sixteen groups. The group stages played out as expected, with all favorites easily making it to the next round. Unfortunately, Ret cancelled his participation because he was moving apartments.

Harstem surprised friend and foe and took out Bly, ClouD en Tarrantius to guarantee himself a spot in the round of sixteen. He then went on to face TLO where he lost 2-1 in really close and interesting games. Sadly, this wasn’t enough for a spot in the DreamHack Winter tournament.

In the last rounds of the tournament there were quite a few surprises, as the relatively unknown player Starnan reached the semi finals where he lost to Nerchio. Nerchio eventually reached the grand finals where he easily crushed his teammate Bly in a Zerg vs Zerg series.

The finals of the Eizo Open will be at DreamHack Winter 2012, with a massive price pool of €62.000! Of course every Packer can witness this spectacle live!
