I really have to say that this Summer edition is more fun than last Winter edition. Maybe it’s because of the weather that is a bit nicer, maybe it’s because Stefan’s back allowed him to join this time, I don’t know. Well, I do know that the people are the ones responsible for making it or breaking it. Next Winter I will probably spent my time with other people than that I’m doing now, but there will also be a lot of other awesome people coming with us. But enough about the people, let’s talk a bit about the event and everything around it.
After our bus arrived at DreamHack, everything went pretty smooth. We had a nice breakfast and after that we checked in at Smurfs Town; a camping site near the DreamHack Venue with cute and coloured houses. Last year the living room was also the bed room, but our house is a little bit bigger this time I think. Two bed rooms are seperated from the living room. It sounds really good right now, but as a big guy I’m not very attached to it. ‘Je kunt er je kont niet keren’, you can’t move your ass without touching something, it’s just small. Rob was bragging about how he could probably shower and take a shit (I’m pretty sure some of you want to know the Dutch word for that. It’s ‘poepen’) at the same time, but he is staying in the Smurf house next door. We have a shower curtain that would probably get dirty.
We placed our gear at Hall B and played a few games of Worms, after that it was time to walk around a bit. We looked for Magnus, our favourite network crewmember, to show us some things. Talked for a while with Louise from Information, Anders from Competition Information and Patrick from Main Stage before Magnus showed us how awesome DreamHack’s Crew Area was. They have beds ready for them and someone to give them a relaxing massage after… watching a computer screen the whole day, I don’t know what Magnus is doing while doing his work.
Even with us being very tired from the long bus drive, we went out to Jönköping (Pronounced ‘Djuntjeuping’ apparently, no k-sound at all!) for a bit to count blonde chicks and fake breasts (‘Blonde meisjes en neptieten tellen’). I lost count when we went downstairs in the Centrum Bar. There were many of them, but they also had a lot of very annoying disco lights and smoke machines that blinded me a bit. We showed some awesome Dutch dance moves, drank a few expensive drinks and went back to the venue, where we ate some kebab before we went to sleep. I apparently snore… that’s new to me.
Last year I had some ridiculous people sitting in front of me, but Björn, Felix and Nina are cool. Those Swedish people laughed their heads off when I tried some Swedish sentences like “Jag har satt världsrekord pa DreamHack 2011!” and they were surprised to hear that I knew what Knäckebröd was. Google Translate also teached them some new Dutch words. The New Kids movies teached them a bit already, but now they know how to really insult people when they go to Nederländerna.
O, I also promised a ‘foreigner exclusive contest’, meaning that people from Belgium or The Netherlands can’t win this one. Do you want to win RACE 07 for Steam? Then comment on this post with any of the following Dutch words for:
– Whiny bitch
– Barf
– Nonsense
– Ladybug
– Lazy guy
– Dirt roads
– Drinking until you’re unconscious
It’s an easy win I think. I don’t expect a lot of entries, but the answers can be found in these posts. Winners will be announced next Monday.
