Only two more weeks to go until we leave for Jönköping, Sweden with all our Packers who we’re pretty sure are very excited to go. DreamHack is more than just a giant LAN-party. It’s an entire festival dedicated to our love for games. For the 2016 winter edition, DreamHack has planned out yet again an amazing program with a variety of activities to make sure no one will have even a second of boredom. So let’s see what DreamHack has in store for us!
Main Stage:
The Main Stage is your place to be to get your fill of Swedish entertainment and extravaganza. Every year, the Main Stage is home to a variety of shows and showcases to make this event a true festival. Don’t miss the official Opening Ceremony, celebrating 72 hours of unlimited fun with a massive laser lightshow. After that, every few hours companies present at the DreamExpo will take to the stage for showcases and grand giveaways to promote their new products. Go have a look and you might be called onto the stage, who knows. Not to be missed is the Official DreamHack Cosplay Competition, where avid gamers show off their crafting skills and bring your favorite gaming characters to the stage. These cosplayers come from all over the world to qualify for the grand finals of the Cosplay Championship, so you know their costumes will be amazing. In the evenings the Main Stage is reserved for some of the best Swedish and international music acts to entertain the gamers. Mostly hardstyle and dance, their music is sure to get you pumped. One of the main acts is our very own Wildstylez, known from the summer hit Year of Summer.
Esports:
Esports is big at DreamHack, hosting official tournaments and championship games right in front of our seats. Tournaments range from professional games for only the highest ranking teams to casual tournaments for BYOC visitors. Professional players from all over the globe travel to DreamHack to compete with each other in a variety of games, each with their own prizepool of thousands of dollars. Luckily for us, DreamHack is pretty good at making a real festivity out of eSports, building giant stages for the crowd to properly watch their favorite teams match up against each other. This year at DreamHack: CS:GO, Hearthstone, DOTA 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, FIFA 17 and Overwatch. For the schedule, go here.
DreamExpo:
The DreamExpo is where the biggest and most innovative companies in the gaming business show off their new hardware, gear and accessories. This year’s DreamExpo is the largest so far with big names like MSI, Alienware and SteelSeries. Check out their new line of products and even test them out. The DreamExpo is also the place to be to meet developers, pro gamers, streamers and many more amazing people within the industry. Present as always is the Webhallen DreamStore for those in need of a new keyboard, network cable or some gaming goodies. You can see the full list of exhibitors here.
Special Activities:
For those looking for something different at DreamHack, there is a lot more to do. Speedrunning is back, this time with themed days focusing at modern pc gaming, nintendo games and retro games. Located in Hall C is the Twitch Streaming Area, where your favorite Swedish and international streamers broadcast and meet up with their fans. For all you metal fans, SABATON is having a fanmeeting in the FanZone at DreamHack, so this is your chance if you’ve always wanted to meet them.
Of course this isn’t all there is to do at DreamHack. For a complete look at what this winter has to offer us, have a gander at the official DreamHack site. Really want to go but haven’t bought your ticket yet? Tickets for Pack4DreamHack are still available through our website. Don’t wait too long though, because we will be leaving in two weeks!
